Joel Jeske

Joel is delighted to be returning to the Big Apple Circus for his third season after creating and performing in last season’s The Grand Tour and hosting the 2006-2007 tour Step Right up! Along with writing the show and clowning in this year’s 40th anniversary season of BAC, Joel is a physical comedian, director, teacher, writer, and creator of his own theater shows. With Parallel Exit, he was nominated for Drama Desk awards in 2006, 2011, and 2015 for creating the shows “Cut to the Chase”, “Room 17B”, and “Everybody Gets Cake!” He has appeared on television in Sex in the City, Live with Regis and Kelly, and Late Night With David Letterman; and on film in Two for the Money with Al Pacino and Two Weeks Notice with Sandra Bullock. Internationally, he created and starred in the GOP Variete show “EXIT!”, starred with Peter Shub in “Shubidu” at the Apollo Variete, was the headlining show at the Festival Der Traume in Austria, was featured in the COS Festival in Reus, Spain, and performed at the AEMI International Clown Festival in China. Joel has toured and created clown acts for Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus and Cirque du Soleil. An encyclopedia of comedy knowledge, Joel is committed to passing on the clown tradition to future generations of performers.
